Artificial intelligence is a tool to understand things better. Machine learning, Deep learning, etc are types of computational techniques that allow us to understand the world around us, take action on the world around us and then get some output. Even the last AI machine built will let us do the same thing (process information and make the world work for us). Humans do the same thing, we perceive the world around us and make quick judgments (most of the time). Just like computers have operating systems and data (that can become smart), we have brains (our operating systems) + Memory.
If you believe in the concept of Morphic resonance (in short, it says Nature has it's own memory-and all things inside it add constantly to Nature's Memory (Adaptive Unconscious). So even the thoughts we think become part of the nature. There is of course the "local memory" inside us all, each individuals personal experiences and context, that makes us all different. It's as if instinct is derived from the nature and rest is done locally at the brain level (if that makes sense).
Lot has been said about AI since a long time and we have seen movies, caricatures and books that predict a world full of robots doing complex tasks. The purpose of writing this post is to say that AI is good enough - unto itself - to be useful for us. We don't need AI to do what the brain does. In fact, there is a good chance, AI might be able to do things which brain can't. Also, there is a good chance that brain will continue to do things that AI never will (because we live in context and we have Nature's Data) which will be hard to replicate.
AI can make everything better and if human race reaches a stage where we don't need to work for just surviving, I think we should take it instead of comparing AI to Human Brain. Our unique brains with unique contexts will always make it fun to live, regardless of what we invent. Yes, AI, has promised a lot for a long time, but we now finally see AI in action in our everyday living (for e.g. self driving cars, purchasing power etc)
Also, stop freaking about robots and their dangers; don't blame the chainsaw if you don't know how to cut the wood ;) Everything humans invent will be used by us for and against ourselves. In fact, in a world full of AI, chances of wars, fights etc will be very less (because world will be more about larger good rather than individual contexts).
